This book is written by Katie Daynes and is about questions and answers about space. The topics are, who, what, where, how, which and why about space.

There’s an interesting question in the topic of “which”.

(Q)Which telescope can see the furthest?

(A) The Hubble Space Telescope. It can see further than telescopes on the ground… …because it’s in space already. The objects the hubble telescope sees are so far away, it’s taken billions of years for their light to reach the telescope.

Imagine how far they would be, when it just takes 8 minutes for the Sun’s light to reach us! This is a photo of the sun’s closest neighbour stars.

In space, distance is measured in ‘Light Years’ and not in ‘kilometers’ because space is very vast. Closest star to us, other than the Sun, is Alpha Centauri, which is 4 Light Years away. That is, it takes 4 years for Alpha Centauri’s light to reach Earth.
